Recent Refinery Assault Reveals 'No Secure Locations in Russia's Distant Backlines'

Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have struck Russia's oil refinery in Ufa, positioned approximately 1,400 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, resulting in explosions and a fire, according to a source in Ukraine's intelligence agency.

This represents the latest Ukrainian security service deep strike in the region in the recent weeks. Those attacks demonstrate that there are no protected areas in the far hinterland of the Russian state.

Zelenskyy Appeals to Trump to Broker Truce in the Conflict

Electricity Restoration Operations in Kyiv

Efforts continued on Saturday to restore power in the Ukrainian capital, after Russian attacks.

Energy had been restored to over 800,000 residents by the weekend and the major utility provider announced the key efforts to repair the grid was finished though some outages remained.

Air Defence Actions and UAV Interceptions

The Ukrainian air defences neutralized 54 out of seventy-eight Russian drones sent against the country overnight, the military reported on Saturday.

Russia's military authorities said it shot down 42 drones over Russian territory.

Cuba Refutes Allegations of Deploying Forces to Ukraine

Cuba on Saturday refuted US assertions it has sent soldiers to participate in the hostilities, while affirming Cuban authorities "lack precise information about individuals" involved "independently" or "within the troops of the conflicting parties".

The ministry in the capital announced 26 nationals had been sentenced to incarceration ranging from five up to fourteen years for mercenary involvement since the autumn of 2023 when information emerged of Cubans being deployed to the frontlines in the conflict.
