The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup With Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Down three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the series. Next up are the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "It's truly an amazing experience."
Springer has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third in history after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another person in the world that I'd prefer in that spot other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, remain the sole team that has never reached in a championship series.
Manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it hurts" following his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
