The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to develop a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in April of 2026.
"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.
Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, essential manuals, a GM screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.
Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the nation into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.
Development on the game has been in progress for approximately several years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to access a broader market, particularly in the United States. Production will start right after the campaign, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.
An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System
A preview at the game's rules confirms it employs d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic style. Agents leverage abilities to assemble a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.
- Rather than summing the total, participants select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
- This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Rolling a natural 10 triggers special effects, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.
Engagements Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight
Fights stress placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the video games. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This mechanic seems built to favor coordination and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.
A Thematic Health System
The way injuries is tracked introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by lowering the number of d10s.
- At zero health, an agent collapses, but is not knocked out.
- They can still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state seen in video game shooters.
- Any agent knocked down must roll on a trauma table, risking persistent effects like trauma or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Adventure
A free introductory rulebook will be released soon. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be detailed closer to the campaign launch.
