The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent Far Cry title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for delighting in action and madness with equal excitement, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those elements.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a fresh location and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our shared bold, visionary approach to the audience.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
